This is super surreal to me because writing this blog post means I’ve officially written two books! SAY WHAT?? I keep wondering if I’ll feel this same sense of awe with every book I write, and, to be honest, I really think I will. Because it’s awesome to write, finish and publish a book. It’s like winning the lottery in accomplishment to me. After so much hard work, loooong hours typing away, even loooooonger hours rewriting and attempting to convey the story in my head . . . when I can hold that finished book in my hand, I feel on top of the world.

[Don’t worry, I will refrain from including a Titanic gif here, even though I REALLY want to. 😂]

An Evanescent Shadow was written to highlight the men a little more in the book, but it’s Evelyn’s growth that takes center stage still. Truthfully, I struggled to write this second book, not because I didn’t know where the story was going or struggled with plotting…no, the struggle was in portraying the emotions and inner workings of each character in the most nuanced and understandable way I could. (My thesaurus was constantly open next to me.)

In book 1, One Iridescent Night, the focus is almost entirely on Evelyn’s struggle with abuse, followed by the after effects, aka PTSD.

In book 2, An Evanescent Shadow, I explore my male leads’ trauma a little further. Showcasing how each man handles his grief. It’s messy, raw, relatable, and a little heartbreaking at the same time. I think that especially if you’ve ever been through hard things like abuse, loss and/or the sudden heavy weight of responsibility, you’ll relate to both the emotional rollercoaster and the subtle nuances of this story.

This book explores the “messy middle”… you know, that in-between time when you have to face harsh realities and figure out who you are, what you want and what you’re feeling.

There are twists and turns and betrayals and confusion and kissing…plus, much more.

In case you’re wondering, there is a little bit more steam in this second book, I’d put the rating at a PG-13 level because you might have a couple “foggy glasses” moments. 😘

Alright, it’s time to go snag your copy of An Evanescent Shadow and tell all of your friends about it! I can’t wait for you to dive in and read this second book in The Iridescent Series!
