About Brianne

Discovered outside of a wardrobe when she was young, Brianne Wik was born in Narnia and raised by the Princesses in Disneyland before her house fell on a witch in North Carolina, where she got some awesome shoes and then settled down with her Rebel Prince Charming.

… you know the rest.

When not writing, Brianne can be found curled up on the couch reading all things fantasy and/or romance, watching Disney+ or Hallmark Movies, or snuggling her cat and husband.

A FEW FACTS:

Brianne Wik Romantasy Author at Walt Disney World

I’m an avid reader, my goal this year is to read 150 books! 📚I’m a huge supporter of indie authors. I’m Disney fanatic. Disneyland literally is my happiest place on earth. I will quote Gilmore Girls with you all day, every day. I became a writer out of a year long burnout. And I’m a child abuse survivor → I know that feels heavy to read, but it’s because of my story and experiences with an anxiety/panic disorder and C-PTSD that I am a HUGE mental health advocate. I’m not afraid to talk about trauma, because I know the more we talk about it, the more we help heal not only ourselves, but our communities.

Big Dreamin’

My dreams of becoming an author were always kept really small and tight collecting fairy dust in a forgotten corner of my heart…the place where I still played Barbies and my Cinderella Polly Pocket came along on every road trip.

It wasn’t until my second burnout (if you’re unsure what burnout is, read this blog post I wrote) that my dreams of becoming an author came back to me. After months of not being able to do much (of anything, except read) I decided to take a note from Lewis Carroll:

“Alice laughed. 'There's no use trying,' she said. 'One can't believe impossible things.'

I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast…”

I sat down one morning, before my breakfast, and took 30 minutes to write down every “impossible” thing I’ve ever wanted/wished to do. At the very end of my “impossible” thinking session, right when I thought I had exhausted every impossible dream, I wrote these words:

To be a full-time fantasy author.

I stared at those words, unsure of where they had even come from and immediately began doubting them. My fear told me I was crazy, that there was NO way that I could ever do that, this was TRULY impossible, no one would EVER take me seriously, I was a terrible writer and unqualified (never having written a book before, let alone taken a writing course besides in High School).

This is what I call a Brave Fear moment.

Instead of giving into my fear, I started writing. I started two different books before I settled on a Cinderella retelling, One Iridescent Night, which is currently available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! Book 2, An Evanescent Shadow, will be releasing November 16, 2021! 🙌

Impossible things are happening every day! 😉
